LEBANON - President Joseph Aoun has signed Lebanon’s 2026 state budget into law following its approval by parliament, marking a key step in the country’s financial planning.

The budget was passed by lawmakers in late January after several days of discussions.

The government described the 2026 budget as a “zero-deficit” plan, meaning spending is matched by expected revenues. Officials said the budget was adopted within constitutional deadlines and aims to maintain basic state services while improving revenue collection.

Members of the parliamentary Finance Committee said the law focuses mainly on balancing figures without offering long-term solutions to revive the economy.

The adoption of the budget comes as Lebanon continues talks on economic recovery and faces pressure to stabilize public finances, reform state institutions, and improve living conditions.
