LEBANON – The Ministry of Economy and Trade affirmed that it is maintaining daily follow-up of market conditions through regular inspections carried out by the Consumer Protection Directorate across all Lebanese regions.

In a statement, the Ministry stressed that following the recent government measures, it will intensify inspection and monitoring campaigns in the coming period. It will not tolerate any violations or unjustified price increases, as these harm consumers and affect market stability.

The Ministry emphasized that any exploitation or price manipulation is unacceptable and will face the necessary legal actions.

These campaigns come as a continuation of meetings held by the Minister of Economy and Trade with the Supermarket and Bakeries Syndicates, during which the concerned parties confirmed their commitment not to raise prices and to assume their responsibilities during this period.

The Ministry also referred to the “Together in Fasting” initiative, in which 27 supermarket chains committed to offering discounts of no less than 15% on 21 essential goods.

This step aims to ease the financial burden on citizens and support social stability.

The Ministry will gradually resume publishing the periodic reports issued by the Consumer Protection Directorate to enhance transparency and keep the public informed.
