LEBANON – The economic bodies held a joint meeting with the Food Security Committee, chaired by former Minister Mohammad Chkeir, at the Beirut and Mount Lebanon Chamber to discuss the state of food and essential goods amid the recent security and military tensions in Lebanon and the region.
The bodies reassured Lebanese citizens that food and essential goods are available in sufficient quantities, with enough stock to ensure continuous supply. Stock levels are as follows:
• Food products: about 3 months.
• Lebanese food industries: 4 months.
• Chicken and its products: at least 2 months.
• Meat: 1.5 to 2 months.
• Wheat and bread: 2 to 2.5 months.
• Vegetables and potatoes: widely available.
• Fuel products: 15–20 days, with ongoing imports at a good pace.
The bodies confirmed that these stocks are sufficient to meet the needs of Lebanese citizens in the coming period, with companies continuing to secure imports to ensure market stability and prevent shortages of essential goods.
