LEBANON – A technical team from the Ministry of Agriculture, as part of its regular monitoring of agricultural production across Lebanon, conducted a field visit in Akkar Governorate.
The tour included plastic-covered greenhouses growing tomatoes and cucumbers, as well as potato fields, to assess local production and track its progress during this stage of the agricultural season.
According to the ministry’s statement, field inspections showed a gradual increase in production with better weather conditions, with protected farming in greenhouses helping to boost the quantities of vegetables available in the markets, especially tomatoes and cucumbers, meeting local demand.
Regarding potatoes, estimates indicate that Akkar potatoes will start arriving in markets from the beginning of April, which will help increase supply in the local market.
The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed that local agricultural production is available and stable, emphasizing that it continues to monitor production and marketing daily and issues guidance prices regularly, promoting market transparency and balancing support for farmers with consumer protection.
