LEBANON – EDL stated that it is working to increase electricity supply hours by buying fuel for its power plants using revenues from the company’s own financial resources.

The company said that over the past few years (2024–2026), it has improved electricity supply despite Lebanon’s exceptional challenges. This was achieved mainly through bill collection and campaigns to remove illegal electricity connections, which helped maintain electricity for citizens and public facilities.

EDL noted that many public administrations and institutions still owe payments, totaling about $270 million under the new tariff. This affects the company’s ability to buy fuel and increase supply hours.

The company confirmed that if these institutions paid their dues regularly, electricity supply could increase by about two extra hours per day.

EDL urged all subscribers and institutions to pay their bills on time to support continuous electricity service and maintain supply hours for the benefit of all citizens across Lebanon.
