LEBANON - Minister Al-Sayed urged families still without shelter to head to accommodation centers in northern Lebanon and Akkar, while warning against rumors circulating online regarding security conditions in the region.
She said relief teams have already distributed more than 800,000 hot meals across shelters nationwide. Meanwhile, the government’s “Aman” social safety program provided cash transfers this month to 84,000 families, with new households expected to be added following ongoing field assessments aimed at ensuring assistance reaches those most in need.
Separately, the ministry has delivered emergency assistance to 50,000 families directly affected by the latest escalation using existing databases of war-affected households.
Authorities have also encouraged families to register through the ministry’s online platform to facilitate future aid distribution. So far, around 830,000 families have registered.
In a related development, Culture Minister Ghassan Salame said the conflict has damaged 11 public libraries, including three that were completely destroyed. He added that Lebanon has coordinated with UNESCO to place “Blue Shield” markers on heritage sites in an effort to protect them under the 1954 cultural property protection convention.
