LEBANON – The head of the Bakery Workers’ Union in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, Shehadeh Al-Masri, reassured citizens that there is no bread crisis and that bakeries are operating normally.

He explained that workers in the sector are facing difficult conditions, including displacement, migration, and the closure of many businesses, bakeries, and shops due to the ongoing escalation.

He also pointed to the lack of attention to workers’ issues and the absence of the relevant ministries, stressing that bread is a basic right for all citizens, as well as workers’ rights.

He confirmed that the bread shortage in Sidon yesterday was due to the holiday and hosting displaced families from the south, and that today bakeries are operating normally with bread available in shops and bakeries.
