LEBANON — The Ministry of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence, represented by Minister Dr. Kamal Shahadeh, and the municipalities of Zahle, Maalaka, and Tannayel officially launched the second phase of the national “Numu” program.

The initiative, implemented in partnership with DOT Lebanon and UNICEF, aims to empower youth and enhance their digital and AI skills in line with rapid technological developments.

The launch took place at Zahle’s municipal palace, with the presence of MP Elias Estefan, DOT Lebanon Bekaa regional director Mariam Haidar, municipal council members, trainers, and enrolled participants.

According to an official statement, the program introduces participants to the latest digital tools and trains them to apply artificial intelligence across multiple sectors.

Organizers say the initiative opens new educational, professional, and developmental opportunities, while also supporting Zahle’s vision of becoming a smart, innovation-driven city aligned with global digital transformations.

During the event, Minister Shahadeh emphasized that “investing in education, knowledge, and technological capabilities is a fundamental pillar for Lebanon’s resilience and reconstruction, particularly given the country’s current challenges.”

He noted that expanding the program from Nabatieh to Zahle reflects a commitment to extending benefits to all regions of Lebanon and highlighted strong youth interest in acquiring digital skills.
