
LEBANON – Despite the current challenges and difficult circumstances facing Lebanon, Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rassamni, continues to push forward efforts to rehabilitate and operate René Mouawad Airport in Qlayaat, placing this vital project, according to a statement from the ministry, at the top of the national priorities due to its critical importance for the country.
The statement added: “Out of the Ministry’s commitment to facilitate the lives of Lebanese citizens, enhance air transport options, and ease the burden on the public, practical steps have been taken to accelerate the project’s implementation.
A public tender has been launched in accordance with established legal procedures, reinforcing transparency and ensuring the highest standards of competitiveness.”
It continued: “This process has attracted significant attention from relevant stakeholders, with eighteen entities having obtained the tender documents and expressed their interest in participating, reflecting growing confidence in the project’s importance and its feasibility both nationally and economically.”
The statement concluded: “While the Ministry emphasizes its eagerness to complete this vital project as soon as possible, it reiterates its commitment to move forward in the public interest, supporting Lebanon’s resilience and strengthening its capabilities at this critical stage. Any updates related to this file will be announced in due course, following the proper procedures.”
