LEBANON — A moderate 4.5-magnitude earthquake hit the sea off Lebanon's southern coast on Monday morning, about 75 kilometers southwest of Beirut.

The epicenter was located between Tyre and Sidon, at a depth of around 14 kilometers below the seabed.

Because the quake was relatively shallow, it was felt across a wide area. Residents in Lebanon reported brief shaking, but no injuries or damage were immediately recorded.

Lebanon lies along active fault lines in the eastern Mediterranean, making occasional tremors a fact of life. The quake adds to an already difficult moment for the country's south, where communities are still dealing with the fallout of conflict, displacement, and damaged infrastructure.
