AMERICA - The United Nations is set to spotlight practical solutions to global development challenges through two dedicated platforms during the high-level period of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 81).
The SDG Media Zone and the Goals Lounge will provide spaces for discussions on sustainable development, innovation and collective action, bringing together voices from across the international community.
SDG Media Zone to Focus on Solutions
The SDG Media Zone, produced by the United Nations Department of Global Communications, will take place from September 21 to 25. The platform will feature interviews and panel discussions focused on solutions advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The programming will provide a space for conversations on progress toward the 17 SDGs and the actions needed to accelerate implementation. It will also highlight ideas, experiences and approaches relevant to sustainable development.
Goals Lounge to Host Interactive Dialogues
Running from September 14 to 25, the Goals Lounge will offer another platform for dialogue during the General Assembly period.
Convened by the UN Deputy Secretary-General and hosted by the UN Office for Partnerships, the lounge will feature unscripted conversations, in-depth discussions on key issues and interactive experiences.
The format will encourage open exchanges on pressing global concerns and explore how different sectors can contribute to sustainable development. The platform will complement formal diplomatic discussions with conversations focused on challenges, ideas and potential solutions.
Spotlight on the Sustainable Development Goals
The two platforms come as the international community continues efforts to advance the Sustainable Development Goals, which were adopted by UN Member States in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda.
The 17 goals address global priorities including poverty, education, healthcare, climate action, inequality and sustainable economic growth. With the 2030 deadline approaching, discussions on implementation, accountability and practical solutions remain central to international development efforts.

Audiences unable to attend the events in person will be able to follow the programming through UN Web TV, the United Nations’ official platform for live and recorded coverage of UN meetings and events.
The broadcasts will provide viewers around the world with access to discussions from the SDG Media Zone and Goals Lounge as the international community gathers for UNGA 81.
