LEBANON– Minister of State for Administrative Reform Dr. Fadi Makki received today, at the ministry’s Behavioral Innovation and Science Lab, Edward Gabriel, former U.S. ambassador and president of the American Task Force on Lebanon (ATFL), accompanied by several members of the organization’s board of directors.
The meeting focused on the Ministry of Administrative Reform’s projects in the areas of administrative reform, digital transformation and governance, as well as the key steps achieved over the past period.
Discussions also covered the digitization of public services, the “Dawlati” platform, and a number of other digital platforms and initiatives currently being developed by the ministry. The delegation was also briefed on the ministry’s vision for restructuring state institutions and public administrations and strengthening their ability to provide more effective services to citizens.
The meeting included discussions on the administrative reform process, the ministry’s working mechanisms, and the challenges facing the development of public administration, as well as the steps being taken to move from planning to the implementation of tangible reform projects.
Makki said the meeting provided an opportunity to present the ministry’s work in administrative reform, digital transformation and governance. He noted that several steps had been completed within the ministry, including defining responsibilities, organizing workflows and establishing a clear vision for the next phase.
He added that the ministry had launched several services, redesigned others and converted many into electronic services, helping facilitate citizens’ access to them and improve their experience with public administration.
Makki stressed that the ministry’s goal goes beyond digitizing services, encompassing a broader vision to restructure state institutions and public administrations, modernize their methods of work, and strengthen governance and efficiency in order to build a more effective public administration capable of responding to citizens’ needs.
For his part, Gabriel expressed the delegation’s appreciation for the work being carried out by the ministry, describing Lebanon as being at an important stage in terms of state-building and ongoing reforms.
He said the delegation found Makki to be well-versed in his portfolio and the issues at hand, with a clear strategic and systematic vision for advancing the reform process. He expressed hope that these efforts would translate into tangible results.
Gabriel also affirmed that the organization would continue to support Lebanon’s reform process, praising the ministry’s work in this area.
