LEBANON – Lebanon recorded 110 suicide cases during the first eight months of 2026, compared with 96 cases during the same period in 2025, representing an increase of nearly 15%, according to figures available through the end of August.
The data shows that the 22–31 age group recorded the highest number of cases, with 25, followed by the 12–21 and 52–61 age groups, with 18 cases each. The 32–41 age group followed with 17 cases.
Geographically, Mount Lebanon recorded 51 cases, accounting for around 46% of the total, followed by the North with 24 cases. The Bekaa and the South each recorded 12 cases, while Beirut recorded 11.
By gender, 86 cases were recorded among males, compared with 24 among females, through the end of August.
These figures highlight the need for greater attention to mental health, prevention and social support, alongside continued monitoring of the data and efforts to understand the factors associated with suicide in order to develop effective prevention and support measures.
