LEBANON — The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has warned of the impact of water service disruptions across Lebanon, saying that more than 1.2 million people, including more than 431,092 children, have been affected by disruptions to water systems across the country.
UNICEF said the disruptions are making it more difficult for families to access clean and safe water, increasing risks for children, particularly in terms of health and hygiene.
The organization said it is working with relevant stakeholders to rehabilitate water systems and strengthen infrastructure, while expanding sustainable solutions, including the use of solar energy to power water stations.
According to UNICEF, these efforts aim to support the continuity of water services and strengthen communities’ access to safe and reliable water.
The organization reaffirmed its commitment to supporting children and families in Lebanon under the #ForEveryChild, Safe Water campaign.
