Lebanon Participates in Turkey’s Zero Waste Forum
Lebanon and Turkey agreed to begin drafting a bilateral cooperation agreement covering several areas, including forest management and wildfire prevention.

LEBANON - Lebanese Agriculture Minister Dr. Nizar Hani took part in the Zero Waste Forum held in Türkiye, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in cooperation with the Zero Waste Foundation, under the patronage of First Lady Emine Erdoğan.
The forum brought together ministers, experts, and international representatives to discuss waste reduction, sustainable resource management, and the promotion of a circular economy. It also focused on food security, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
On the sidelines of the event, Minister Hani met Turkish Agriculture and Forestry Minister Ibrahim Yumaklı, in the presence of Lebanon’s ambassador to Türkiye, Monir Anouti, and ministry officials from both sides.
He outlined the heavy losses faced by Lebanese farmers and called for urgent assistance to help the sector recover. He requested support in the form of fertilizers, animal feed, irrigation systems, machinery, and agricultural equipment.
Both sides also discussed strengthening agricultural cooperation between Lebanon and Türkiye. They agreed to begin drafting a bilateral cooperation agreement covering several areas, including forest management, wildfire prevention, fisheries, and fish farming.
The two ministers stressed the importance of expanding technical cooperation and sharing expertise to improve agricultural sustainability and resilience.
Lebanon’s participation in the forum is part of efforts to expand international cooperation and attract support for the country’s struggling agricultural sector.
