LEBANON - Lebanon’s Ministry of Environment has launched its first training and orientation sessions for municipalities and unions of municipalities as part of the implementation of the National Digital Integrated Solid Waste Management Information System, introduced in May 2026.
The digital platform aims to improve transparency and accountability in the waste management sector by integrating national data on waste collection, transportation and treatment.
By providing reliable data to support decision-making, the system seeks to improve the efficiency and sustainability of waste management operations across Lebanon, while contributing to the development of a circular economy.
The system was developed with support from the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and funding from the Global Environment Facility through the World Bank.
